Dear Seven Oaks’ Families,

As we begin our eleventh year of operation, it is my pleasure to tell you that Seven Oaks Elementary School is once again recognized by the Florida Department of Education as a State “A” school for the tenth year. In addition, we have met the rigors of the Federal requirement of “No Child Left Behind” by making Adequate Yearly Progress in all sub groups. Sub groups include all ethnic groups; students with disabilities, students learning English and economically disadvantaged students in our school. We are a 5-Star School and we earned the Golden School Award for Volunteerism.

If you want to volunteer at school or be considered to chaperone a team field trip, you must first complete the District School Board of Pasco County School Volunteer Application on line. This application MUST be renewed annually. You must be approved prior to volunteering in the classroom and/or chaperoning field trips. Volunteering is at the teacher’s invitation and must be scheduled prior to coming to school. You can learn more about volunteering and complete the online application by visiting https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/communications/volunteer/

Please limit the number of times your child is checked out early from school. Missed instruction is very difficult to make up. No early dismissal after 3:15 p.m.

It’s important that every student arrive at school on time every day. When a student is late, he/she must report to the office for a tardy pass. All tardies are reported on the quarterly report card. Chronic tardiness is disruptive to student learning and the classroom routine for other students. Please arrive at school on time…it’s a positive habit to develop.

During the first week of school, parents are welcome to walk students to class. After the first week, please say goodbye to your child at the classroom door. We are building independence and teachers and students are beginning the day’s routine.

Our drop-off procedures have not changed for the 2015-2016 school year.
Students may arrive on campus at 9:25 a.m. Please remember that there are no adults available until this time to supervise students. As you know, our parking facilities are limited. We have two incoming lanes into the car loop. The left is for parking and the right lane is for morning student drop-off and afternoon pickup, only. Please move to one of the nine (9) drop-off, pickup slots in order to let your child out of the car in the morning and pickup in the afternoon. Seven Oaks is the largest elementary school in Pasco County and overcrowding makes for longer lines of cars. Please refrain from pulling around other cars or letting your child out in an unmarked area. It will take time to drop-off and pickup, however, safety is our priority and we ask that you follow our procedures and please be patient.

Walkers and bike riders will be dismissed together. A faculty/staff member will walk students to Mystic Oak where students will be met by their parents. When there is lightning/heavy rain, students will be held in the Media Center until it is safe to exit the campus.

Students will receive a copy of the SOES Parent/Student Handbook in the student planner and a copy of the District Code of Student Conduct on the first day of school. Please review these documents with your child(ren). The student dress code is included in both documents. In addition, you will find rules of student conduct and bus rules.

Here’s to another successful, happy school year.
